Hi all,
I have lovely, long, blonde hair. It is naturally straight, and is nice and smooth. But sometimes I fell like it is a bit boring just hanging there. Does anyone have and ideas for hair styles for me? I don't have any hair equipment, but a tiny bit of hairspray, and if i put my hair in plaits it curls quite well. Any ideas??

I'm in the same boat as you my dear. Here are some ideas :
-If you leave your hair in a bun when its damp and sleep with with it in or keep it in long enough, when you undo it it should be crazy waves which looks fab and gives it some volume.
-You could put it in rags so it stays curly for longer. Who needs curlers :) It works with thick hair so well.
-Messy bun
-Big messy plait
-Backcomb it
-French plait the front or plait your hair and then fold the plaits across. I know its daring, but it looks lush :)

Hair styles for long hair?
I have long dark brown hair and brown eyes. I'm 12 and highlights are ok, just tell me the color and maybe include a picture. I'm looking for stylist, and serious answerers. I need pictures and descriptions of hair styles.
By styles I mean like hair cuts. Such as layers...etc, not just like up in a pony tail.

It's ALWAYS better to bring an actual picture of what you want to a stylist or else you can leave with something you don't like because of a misunderstanding. I'd go for long layers for volume and some thin honey-blonde highlights (make sure you don't get them chunky or else you'll end up looking like a skunk!)

Hair Styles For Long Hair?
I have light brown/dark blond naturally curly hair that falls to about my waist or higher when I leave it curly, and a few inches below my waist when I straighten it with a ceramic straightner/curler. Mostly I just leave it down, in a ponytail, french braid or bun. I want to start adding a bit more of a stylish look to it, but something that won't be hard to do here at home. I have long, straight, blonde hair. It has a middle parting, and i usually flip it a lot to give it volume. I don't have curling irons and stuff, but if any hairstyle ideas you have for me involve waves or curls, leaving my hair in plaits is very affective.

1. After showering, dry gently with towel
2. Comb hair out gently with a wide-toothed comb
3.Use a round brush to flip hair inwards while blow-drying
4.Spray with gentle hairspray (or just shine spray)
MESSY BUN (All medium-length hair)
1.Gather hair up at the top of your head, how you would if you were doing a high ponytail
2. Grab a hair tie and twist it twice around (but don't let go)
3.With other hand, grab the bun and twist
4. Pull out some strands and mess w/ bun until you're happy with it!
CLASSIC HIGH PONYTAIL
1.Gather all hair at the top of your head (no bumps!)
2.Pull some strands out in front of your face
3.Band the ponytail tightly
4. Tie a few ribbons and bows that match your outfit around the ponytail
5. Streak strands that have been pulled out (optional)
1/2 PONYTAIL-MESSY VERSION
1. First, pull out some strands in front of your face.
2.Clip top hair up and straighten the bottom layer
3. Unclip top hair and brush up into a 1/2 ponytail
4. Clip with a bow clip or a simple 1/2 clip

Go to the stylist and get some blonde in there! Blonde on top, darker underneath. Bring your hair up mid-length or longer. Have them thin out your hair a bit and go a bit chunky funky. Use large rollers over night to straighten hair and add curl to the ends.
Get angles, they will define your face structure. Also, you may want to get ride of your layers. They make your hair thicker. ANd side bangs would be very cute as well.

Is long hair on a guy a turnoff? Favorite style for long hair?
I don't mean like super long, not down to my shoulders or anything but maybe like the middle of my neck. It's straight/curly. Sometimes my brother/dad make fun of me b/c they say I look like a girl but I got tired of the boring spikey hair styles so I grew it out.

It's a very sexist remark to make that long hair makes you girly. People don't say things like that in this pc days.
Long hair means more work. Are you prepared to do it? Because when hair is messy, it looks bad no matter how long it is. If it is neat, and always looks tidy, it can look just fine. But the longer the hair, the more work there is and the more easy it gets out of hand. I've had both so I know.
well for white guys i don't like it to be too far past the jawline. and it should fall in his face right not all sloppy. and it should look like its cleaned and brushed everyday. i think it depends on the texture. some white guys have hair that doesn't grow rite.
for black guys i like afros like the guys from shawyze and short hair cuts. i think long braids are out not. waves and short cuts are cute.

Also, don't stay in your shower/bathroom because the humidity can cause frizziness. You can go to your room or something.

So, here's what I do. After I wash my hair I towel dry it. I put in a dime sized amount of John Freida hair serum. It's got silicone in it so it keeps your hair straight and a bit shiny! Don't use too much- a little goes a long way! It weighs my hair down a bit so I use a little bit of mousse at the roots to keep it from going flat. Anyhow, I put half my hair up in a clip on top of my head and use a round brush %26amp; blow dryer to dry the underneath sections. When it's dry I run a hair straightener over it. I do the same with the top half afterward. Then I'm done!
I know, it sounds lengthy and complicated, but it's not. It only takes me about 10 minutes(or less) to dry and straighten my hair.star makeup

Easy and quick styles for long hair?
I have very thick, dark hair that comes just below my shoulders, it's naturally wavy and quite unruly. I don't have time every morning to straighten, there's just too much of it! And I'm still trying to grow it longer (more fool me heh).
I was wondering if anyone had any ideas to make it look good without putting hours of effort in. And without me just tying it back in a ponytail or bun/ball and looking like I don't give a damn about my looks?! I have long hair -- down to my hips, 2 or 3 feet from root to tip. It's basically straight, and thin and fine. Besides bangs there is no fancy cutting, just long hair. My face is kind of half between a heart and diamond shape.
I am looking for a relatively easy hairstyle I can do besides a bun, that looks elegant and classy (think Geisha over Harajuku.) I don't like ponytails or anything that leaves much hair hanging, can't seem to make a French Twist hold even with one of those special combs, and can only braid my hair if I have help -- which I rarely have.
If someone could instruct me on a style beyond just chignon or topknot, that would be great -- something relatively easy (less than 15 minutes of work) that's a bit different from just putting a plain bun in one place over another on my head.Any easy, elegant styles for long hair?

well i reakon that you should cuit your hair if is that long youll get nits so easy ive got normal sized hair and layed it is perfect you can do every stile with it

I would totally go for the whole hair in your face messy/greasy hair. Don't wash your hair for like a day or 2 at a time (ew i know it sounds gross) and use garnier fructis products like the surf hair or the fiber gum to texture it.

make it really chunky and poufy and put little bows and stuff in it if you want kind of a scene look. long and messy is pretty punk i guess.

I've only had long hair twice in my life. I cut it short when I was in the second grade and kept it short until I was a junior in high school. I cut it short again in my senior year. I'm almost 26 and I've been fighting with my hair for most of my life. I've colored it all sorts of shades and kept it super short most of the time. I attempt to grow it out from time to time but every time it starts to get long, I cut it short again because I just don't know how to have long hair!
Seriously, I can do a bun, pony tail, pigtails (braided low of course) and twist it up with a hair clip but that's about it. I've never liked head bands because they just don't look good on me. I've also sworn off bangs shorter than my chin because they make my already round face look rounder and therefore fat. My hair is naturally blonde. I used to color it a lighter shade of blonde but now it is in its natural state of ash blonde. It's just past my shoulders and I plan on growing it longer (if I can learn how to deal with long hair).
If I let it air dry after a shower it tends to get a bit wavy. I don't like to blow dry it too often because it's damaging. I do own an ionic blow dryer and I use a heat tamer spray when I do blow dry. If I blow dry it, it will be straight all day. I don't have to use a flat iron or special sprays to make it straight.
I just want to find a website where it will show me how to put my hair up into new and interesting ways. I see so many women with beautiful styles but I don't know how to do any of it. I would like to learn how to french braid my own hair. Or how about using harigami? I know it's ';so five years ago'; but has anyone tried it? Is it easy to use? I wanna keep my hair long. (It's very close to touching the bottom of my elbows, and the shortest I will have it is an inch or 2 below my shoulders.) buy those soft curlers and sleep in them. it is soooo easy and you save so much time in the morning. you just take them out and only brush the top of your hair otherwise you brush right through the curls. then use hairspray, not mousse. ive found that a great brand of hairspray is matrix hairspray. and for looser, messier curls, you separate each curl in two. it is a more casual, less shirley temple look.
then for waves, sleep in braids. (the number depending on how wavy you want your hair. i would probably recommend about eight or so) then you just take them out in the morning and just brush the top of your hair. you can use hairspray, but i usually dont need it, but then again, my hair holds waves really well......
and if you shower in the morning, scrunch your hair with mousse and it looks pretty good but might get a little frizzy.
and as for just regular hairstyles, i would try sidebangs or whispy bangs instead of thick ones......dont know about the cut i might have to see the shape of your face, sry....
you can also do buns, because they are pretty in, or low pigtails, but you might be a little old for them, but my sister in college looks cute in them so i dont know.....

put it in pig tails then put those pig tails in a pony tail then twist the pony tail between the pig tails !
Try wearing shirley temple curls.. Or braid it or twist up wear it like that for a day or two, then let it down and it will be curly. Or u could try putting a hump in the midlle of your hair like Hilary Duff, that seems really popular now.
ok wear it wavy but make it look natural. so what you do is take a shower then put it in a bun and keep it in for a while. then when u take it out put a little scrunching gel in it to keep it in. it looks great!! the best gel to buy is herbal escenses (its purple and its called scrunching gel)

ok wear it wavy but make it look natural. so what you do is take a shower then put it in a bun and keep it in for a while. then when u take it out put a little scrunching gel in it to keep it in. it looks great!! the best gel to buy is herbal escenses (its purple and its called scrunching gel)

if udidnt want it cut u should put it in spiral curls.if u dont have a spiral curling iron jsut cut up pieces of 4 rags and seperate hair into sections and roll ur hair in them and sleep in them over night.good luck

Low pony tails with side parts in front are very ';in';. You can leave your pony tail down, or make it a messy bun. It's a great look for camp! Just DON'T french braid. It's too cliche camping hair. If still wanna be cute at camp, then work the pony or bun at the nape of your neck.

I'm letting my hair grow so I can make it wavy, it look really nice, I saw it on my friends hair. buy a 1'; curling iron and just divide it in small parts make it really curly, then with your finger break the curls and apply a little bit of hair spray, you don't want to put a lot because the hair will loose volume. It looks really nice and that's the style right now! Hope you like it.

New hair styles for long hair?
I have really long hair, it goes down to my behind. I usually wear it up in a ponytail or down straightened but I only straighten it when I have time, which is only once in awhile because my older sister always uses it. What are some hair styles I could do to my hair. (it is naturally wavy if that helps) websites and pictures are appreciated.

Sounds like you have beautiful hair. There are so many things you can do with hair that length. I am a hairstylist that specializes in long hair and waist length to around behind or so are my favorite lengths to style. Up do's, straight etc. it's really countless. I would recommend starting with a long hair site such as longhairsite.com and go to the professional links which will take you to an assortments of styles and ideas. I would also recommend finding someone in your area that specializes in long hair only. I wouldn't settle for anything else. They don't call us specialist for nothing. I can't count how many times I have had to fix some ladies hair after a regular hairdresser screwed it up. For some reason an inch or less means a foot to some people. Also, they can help you with styles without trying to convience you to just cut it which is ridiculous. Good luck and keep your hair looking long and beautiful!

No one can make specific recommendations without knowing which long style you are referring to or without knowing your head shape, face and neck shape, frontal hairline, facial features, density/texture of hair and the amount of time you are willing to spend grooming it. To some guys long hair is anything long enough to have to use a comb; a regular taper cut or even an ivy league are long as compared to a crew cut or butch. For others long is anything covering the ears. And still for others, long means hanging below the shoulders. Long and short are relative definitions depending on one's perspective. One thing is sure, even long hair under the below the shoulders definition can be quickly be cut shorter, and a regular taper cut, ivy league(long crew cut) and crew cut can be adapted by a skilled barber to suit most guys head shape, face and neck shape, frontal hairline and facial features, so that is about all I can recommend without more information. sunsilk has a product that I like it's a spritz that gives a ';tossed wave'; look. It smells good and gives me a loose wave. It's in a blue bottle. I think it's called beach waves or something. It's a good fast summer look. You can also do a messy low bun, a low ponytail with a side part, you can also wear it down and then twist the front to the side or back and secure with a bobby pin. Jus something different. Just experiment with different looks basically all you need are some rubber bands and bobby pins for different looks. Headbands and scarves are also a good accessory. Good luck!
Try doing long spirals with a 1'' barrel curling iron. Or try using hot rollers.... you can do pretty much anything with long hair, you could also try spiraling it and pulling it up in a loose pony tail or half pony with a head band....

I have hip-length hair that is naturally wavy. I'm considering having my older sister do my hair, but I don't know what to do with it. you can go with a bump where you take your bangs and pull them back with a couple of bobby pins, half up half down, the best way to make you hair look different is to frame it around your face meaning bangs, no bangs, side swept bangs. another look i have found really cute is to part you hair in the middle take little pieces of you hair from both side and braid them back and pin it with a bobby...hope this helps!I need different hair styles for long hair?

They will make you look completely different and they are very in right now. If you do not want to cut your hair you can always do the poof or scrunch your hair and give it the somewhat wavy look. Using a curling iron is always a good way to change up your look, it is classy and cute. It also works very well with long hair.

Well! they are wrong! it isnot boring! I have a few step by step hairstyles that i can tell you!
fancy french twist: First, you pull out your fringe. Then, you pull the rest of your hair back as if you were going to put it into a ponytail but dont tie it. Next, you start twisting the untied ponytail, then raise the ponytail up to the crown of your head. After that, you pin it in place, and tuck in some of the hair that is sticking out from the top, bu not all of it! Leave some extra hair out, and curl it when you are finished!

My hair is waist length and reddish blonde too! I wear my hear in braids (french and regular), buns (ballet buns and messy buns) and down. I like to wear pony tails on regul;ar days but curling or stretening hair is fun. Just do something really different with it one day and it will look cool

Like everyone else said, a bun with some hair to frame the face is nice. Also you can put one of those hair sticks into your bun to make it pretty looking.
If you want, you can also perm your hair and/or use a curling iron and make your hair wavy/curly. That'll be a drastic change and it won't be boring anymore right?
messy buns look really good when you've got heaps of hair.
Also, perhaps a 'half-ponytail' where the top part of the hair on your head is tied up, and the loose hair is curled gently, perhaps, with a curling iron.
Do you have a straightener? You can get a really cheap one if you've already got straight hair - it just gives it a really sharp look. Then, get a bobby pin, put a bow/ribbon on the end of it, and slide it in on the side of your head, just above the ear, and it looks really cute, like - the baby doll kind of look.
You could do a gwen stefani pouf in the front, and do either a bun, pony, or loose messy braid with it in the back.Or totally straight and flat with a low side part, all tucked behind your ears is cute.It is also cute when you set your damp(almost dry ) hair with mouse in litlle buns at night and take them out in the morning to have crazy curly/wavy hair, looks good with a headband . My hair is past my waist and i usually do either:
1) pony tail (sometimes i add a poof to keep it from looking plain)
2) a high messy bun or a messy bun on the side of my head or a low messy bun
3) i dance and a ballet bun looks really good too
(any kind of bun look good because your hair is long enuf that the bun wont be super small and it keeps your hair off ur neck when it's summer)
4) braids (pigtail french braids look really good but any kiond of braid looks good)
5) wear it down (curl it if your hair is naturally straight or straiten it if it is curly so it is a little different than normal)
6) half up half down (u can sometimes pull up just the sides instead pulling up hair on the top or your head too)

Like everyone else said, a bun with some hair to frame the face is nice. Also you can put one of those hair sticks into your bun to make it pretty looking.
If you want, you can also perm your hair and/or use a curling iron and make your hair wavy/curly. That'll be a drastic change and it won't be boring anymore right?
messy buns look really good when you've got heaps of hair.
Also, perhaps a 'half-ponytail' where the top part of the hair on your head is tied up, and the loose hair is curled gently, perhaps, with a curling iron.
Do you have a straightener? You can get a really cheap one if you've already got straight hair - it just gives it a really sharp look. Then, get a bobby pin, put a bow/ribbon on the end of it, and slide it in on the side of your head, just above the ear, and it looks really cute, like - the baby doll kind of look.
You could do a gwen stefani pouf in the front, and do either a bun, pony, or loose messy braid with it in the back.Or totally straight and flat with a low side part, all tucked behind your ears is cute.It is also cute when you set your damp(almost dry ) hair with mouse in litlle buns at night and take them out in the morning to have crazy curly/wavy hair, looks good with a headband . My hair is past my waist and i usually do either:
1) pony tail (sometimes i add a poof to keep it from looking plain)
2) a high messy bun or a messy bun on the side of my head or a low messy bun
3) i dance and a ballet bun looks really good too
(any kind of bun look good because your hair is long enuf that the bun wont be super small and it keeps your hair off ur neck when it's summer)
4) braids (pigtail french braids look really good but any kiond of braid looks good)
5) wear it down (curl it if your hair is naturally straight or straiten it if it is curly so it is a little different than normal)
6) half up half down (u can sometimes pull up just the sides instead pulling up hair on the top or your head too)

My hair was recently down to my waist and some of your answers say curl it but being of the long haired order I know that is so much easier said than done. So I suggest if you like it up like I do there are so many different ways to do pony tails. Like pigtails for instance they dont have to just be at the top of your head like when you were 5. Try them low and braid them or try making a part all the way across your head (from ear to ear) then split that in the middle and making pigtails with half your hair down. And a pony tail itself can be worn with accessories or by taking a small portion and wrapping it around whatever you have holding it up hiding the ponytail holder its simple but elegant. If you want a texture change but hate the time and energy it takes to curl it all try braiding it in small braids after you wash it and keep them in till it dries then taking it down. It gives a crimped look but be very careful not to brush it (it poofs it out) try either just running you fingers through it or get a (what i always called) rake or maybe its called a feathering comb- basically a very wide toothed comb. I usually wear my medium thick hair down or in a pony. I started wrapping it up in some kind of bun thing too. Any ideas for normal everyday styles? Easy hair styles for long hair, mostly down?
I have long (few inches past my shoulders), mid brown hair, quite thin. I'm not too great at hair, so I'm looking for an easy hair style I can do, but I need some hair down coz I look really bad if I don't... dunno why. My hair isn't layered or anything, it's all the same length, and I don't have a fringe or anything like that.

The next morning, remove the braids and use some styling cream to mold your waves into the look you desire. If you hair is too wavy and puffy, you can spray lightly with some water to calm it down.

Curls are very cute, and gorgeous when styled the right way. Get different sized curlers for each section of hair, and also depending on how much curl you want. Play around with it, blow dry with them in or take them out, look for tips from professionals. Some non sticky hairspray in the morning will look beautiful all day. Good luck!

you can use bobby pins to pin up your hair half way, mine is like yours, i usually use bobby pins to pull mine halfway.

i have medium to long hair ... and i have lots of layers in mine and i just either straighten it or leave it naturally curly... every1 says my hair looks great =]
If you have straight hair, tie it in a bun at the top of you head with some bright sparkly or glittery scrunchy, then curl the rest. At the front, brush some behind your ears. Check these styles out:
A french braid.

I have rather long hair(about mid way down my back) and I would like to put in up in a nice 1920's style for a party. I know that short hair was typical for girls of the 1920's, but I REALLY don't want to cut my hair! Were there any styles back then for longer hair? Sure, They did low bun or chignon with a head piece, or you can do finger waves with it. Sometimes, They did elaborate hairstyles that was pretzel like(I can't for the life of me, find the pictures of that, So you'll have to really research that on google), or princess leia buns. Sometimes, They even did a Faux Bob, which you can find many tutorials online for a Faux bob...I think one 1920 faux bob had the ends rolled, which you could easily achieve with a curling iron(Or a rat hair piece) and bobby pins.Are there any 1920's styles for long hair?

The hair was tied up in a very tight bun at the back and allowed to curve over the ears. It has to be very sleeked back and geometrical for it to work - maybe use Brylcreem or setting lotion?
The other thing worth having is a flapper hat, called a cloche hat. You can tuck your hair safely away inside that, with just a few curls sticking out of the sides.

Try a four strand plait that goes right from the top. My mum used to do it to my hair before I had it all cut off :( I'm growing it again though:) It looks really cool and I wish i had a pic to show you what it looked like, but i don't. You can probs look it up on google though. Good Luck :D
